Pop art comes in many forms. I consider this one of them. You'll find here an ACTUAL, REAL mugshot of Janis Joplin. A mug shot of Janis Joplin from the Tampa, Florida Police Department. The black and white and sometimes color enhanced photograph shows three images of Joplin, the first is a full body shot with the time, day and year visible by way of a clock and calendar on the wall behind her (12:15 am, November 17, 1969). The other two images show Joplin in profile and a frontal portrait shot. During her November 16, 1969 performance at Curtis Hixon Hall in Tampa Joplin shouted obscenities at the police while they tried to control an unruly crowd, reportedly telling the police, "don't f--- with these people," among other things. She was arrested by Tampa Police after the show. Shows Joplin's information filled in (name, DOB, height, etc.) and her last known address as "At Large." The charge was profanity. Here, remastered and enhanced, while remaining gritty and striking... sometimes off-putting, but always compelling.
